Enter the MHD House of design and heritage
We bring together contemporary Māori design, Aotearoa identity, whakapapa, and everyday living. Objects crafted not merely with applied artwork, but designed wholly around pūrākau, form, and purpose.
Building the house piece by piece
Our journey shapes daily living through deliberate, story-led craft. Every collection draws inspiration from our landscapes, the moana, Matariki, and kaitiakitanga.
Appliances
Contemporary home appliances crafted around meaningful cultural storytelling and precision engineering.
Homeware
Functional dining and living essentials that connect people to land and sea through every touchpoint.
Furniture
Thoughtfully engineered statement pieces balancing contemporary lines with indigenous narratives.
Lighting and interiors
Sculptural lighting and spatial concepts shaping complete environments inspired by Aotearoa.
Our design philosophy
At Māori House Design Limited, we believe artwork is never merely placed upon an object. Instead, each piece is conceived and built around its core story, whakapapa, and cultural purpose. We bring innovation and kaitiakitanga together to enrich everyday life across Aotearoa and beyond.
The digital pūrākau library
Each MHD piece features a discrete QR code connecting your physical space directly to ancient kōrero, ancestral wisdom, and the specific origins of its design.
"Having a piece from MHD in our whare brings our stories to life. The connection between modern form and ancestral narrative is unmatched."
Aroha Henare
"The QR code integration is brilliant. Scanning our dining ware and sharing the pūrākau with manuhiri has transformed dinner gatherings."
Rawiri Te Kanawa
"Exceptional quality and genuine cultural integrity. The design philosophy behind every single item speaks volumes."
